Zuma Zuma is a word based drinking game. Drinks are a magic potion – quite literally. This drinking game is a musical, chant based game that can easily bring energy to any party. Whether it’s with old friends or work colleagues, it helps breaks the ice and releases the tension. This game is an excellent mini game to add to King’s Cup.
Number Of Players Required
While this game can be played with a minimum of four people, we suggest at least six players.
It’s a party game, so the more people, the better.
Gear Required
While a good number of party animals who are ready to have some fun is essential let’s consider what else is needed to play the game and make it even more enjoyable.
Here’s the gear that’s required:
- A few bottles of liquor to make the shots that each player takes a good hit to remember.
- A table that is preferably wooden to help the sounds be as loud and as thrilling. Is it even a party if your party noise doesn’t wake up the neighbors?
- A seating arrangement that allows players to sit side by side.
Zuma Setup
This is perhaps the most straightforward game to set up.
However, it does require some level of coordination.
The players will be seated around the table and side by side. A curved table is better than a straight one that can create a lot of distance between the first and last players.
How To Play Zuma Zuma
1) First, a player must be chosen to be called the “Zuma.” This player can be selected randomly.
2) This is where seating helps the game. The person to the left of Zuma becomes number 1. The person to the left of number one becomes number two, and so forth.
3) The players – all of them – begin chanting and singing. While any beat could be chanted, the most famous beat includes “stomp stomp, clap clap.”
Not only is stomp stomp, clap, clap easy to follow, it’s a beat that exists across different cultures. Regardless of which other countries your party friends are from, they can all play along and enjoy the evening.
4) As everyone is creating some earth-shattering stomp stomp, stomp and clap, clap sound, Zuma will begin the game. They have to say “Zuma, Zuma and any player’s name”. For instance, “Zuma, Zuma Number 3”.
By calling out number 3, they have delegated number 3 to continue the game. The number will chant its number, followed by any random number of a player. For example, “Three! Three! Six! Six!”.
5) It is essential to understand one details. The entire entourage has to continue stomping and clapping a constant beat, and the player, who’s chanting, has to chant to the beat.
To miss a beat means you lose, and you take a drink!
6) The game continues. One player chanting to the beat and giving the cue to the next person. The game eventually picks pace, stakes get raised, and ultimately a player messes up and has to take a shot.
After each mess up, start a new round and select a new leader.
The game goes on until you’re tired, the night ends, or a few players pass out!
