How To Play Quarters
Learn how to play quarters, the popular coin drinking game. Quarters is the quintessential coin based drinking game. In quarters, players must bounce a quarter off the table and into a cup. The fundamentals of quarters are used for almost all other coin drinking games.
Players: 3+
Gear
- Quarter
- Empty Glass
- Table with hard surface
Setup
Sit around the table and place empty glass in the middle.
How To Play Quarters
- Choose a player to go first
- first player tries to get the quarter into the empty glass by bouncing it off the table
- If the player misses the glass it is now the person to the right’s turn. If the player successfully gets the quarter in the glass, they may choose another player to take a drink AND take another turn. They may keep taking turns until they miss.
- If a player gets THREE shots in a row they add a rule to the game.
Getting three quarters in the glass in a row can be difficult so that player earns the right to make ANY type of rules. Feel free to get creative but some examples of rules include:
- If you swear take a drink
- Scratch your nose before each shot, if you forget take a drink
- Give someone a nickname that everyone MUST address them by
- If you lose the quarter you must let the other players send a text from your phone
Additional Rules
Some additional rules may be added if you wish.
- If a player has a bad bounce they may choose to “double down’ and take another shot. To do this they must “buy the shot” by taking a drink. If they miss the penalty double (another two drinks)
- In the event a player bounces off the table they must drink two
- If the quarter lands in someones drink, they must finish their drink
