This game is a classic. Beer Pong is a college party staple, and the easiest game to learn. Most party guests are itching to play a round or two of beer pong, and the supplies can be used for a variety of games so it’s a good idea to have cups and balls on hand. Once you get a handle on this game you can start adding your own rules, or tackling a couple variant versions.
Players: 2-4
Gear
- Two Ping Pong balls (or Beer Pong balls in this case)
- 20 plastic cups
- 8 foot table
Setup
Break off into 2 teams. Arrange 10 cups on each end of the table in the shape of a triangle. Cups can be filled with water, or beer. Each team stands in front of the cups.
Game Play
- Before the game begins, each team elects one player to play the “eye to eye” round. Eye to eye is played by both teams looking each other directly in the eye (not glancing at the cups) and simultaneously shooting the ball. The team that sinks the ball gets to go first. If both players miss, “eye to eye” is played again until a team scores.
- Team A is now trying to sink the ping pong balls into the opponents cups. If a ball is sunk into a cup the cup must be removed.
- In the event that both players score the shooting team gets to go again. If a member of the team misses, both players but give there balls to the opposing team, who will then get a turn at shooting.
- If a player is able to bounce the ball off the table and into a cup, this is worth two cups HOWEVER the opponent may play defensively on bounces by swatting the ball away.
- Game is played until one team has no cups remaining and the other team is still standing.
